Advice for a Dear Friend

Tue, 12/19/2017 - 16:33 -- H-Cab

I sit here wondering how you are doing today

Oh how there’s many things I want to say

We haven’t had a deep conversation in a while

And oh how I miss that smile

I haven’t seen it since that night

When you almost collided and saw that light

But I wonder if you really saw it?

I know how much it kills you to admit

That light being the truth

To which the problems you have you seem to refute

What will it take for you to see?

What hurts me and what you will soon be

So maybe you’re not ready

But believe me when I say you’re unsteady

Oh how I wish that you would understand

You’re drowning in a pool of quicksand

We just tried to help you

But yet I know you were askew

Since that night it’s not been the same

But babe, I mean no shame

I acted the way I did because I care

I mean, at this point I feel you’re living on a prayer

We may not have been "official"

But the way I felt about you was not artificial

I know you are about to leave

There’s just one thing I want you to believe

In the choices that you make in life

I hope my words come to you and cut through you like a knife

You were more than just a friend to me

As anyone could also see

So please, I beg of you

Don’t let your life fall through

Sincerely,

Your Loving Friend
