Aging and ...

Psalm 71:8-9 I praise you constantly
and speak of your splendor all day long.
9 Do not reject me in my old age!
When my strength fails, do not abandon me!
Aging

Graceful I am aging ... really it’s not about the pain

My strength is slowly fading ... Graceful! A repeat of that again

It is a blessing to grow old ... Isaac slowly turned blind

So to live by what he was told ... even his wife was not too kind

Moses lived many years ... one hundred twenty five in fact

Outlived all his aging peers ... as his own health stayed intact

Abraham outlived his wife ... and started another family

This offspring only brought strife ... with his first entirely

A king was not ready to die ... God added 15 years to his life

A son was born a fearful guy ... as this kid was bad in sacrifice

Killed his offspring in the fire ... brought God’s wrath down to earth

It is hard to admire ... the guy who was the cause of this

On and on goes the struggle ... from King David to now me

Hanging on trying to snuggle ... what keeps me from being free?

“Die and you will truly live ... give up this world and follow me”

says my Christ Who gives ... the strength I need to believe
