Alive?

Built up hatred

Oozes out of the pores of the misinformed.

Can't seem to escape it.

Can't seem to rise above it.

How can I become an example

When I feel like a sample

Of America's weakest?

Have I put too much trust

In this country to give me

Opportunities that I deserve?

Have I become the problem?

Where is the solution?

Black clouds roll over

In the clear blue sky releasing

SUNLIGHT!

Oh I missed it.

The birds and bees

The whistling, humming trees

Everything looks new.

Nothing is swiped clean

But there is a new sense.

Hope is dancing in the eyes

Of a new generation rising

To the top of lies

And hatred.

Can we rise?

Is this another disguise?

I don't know what will happen

But I hope that this new

Hope stays

Alive.
