The American Dream

Born and raised the American way,

A proud patriot with no shame.

The stars and stripes will never go away,

As long as we preserve this dame.

America, America, she’s in pain,

Many feel that the end is near for her fame.

Cultures, countries, and people have gain,

As a result of the Pilgrims that came.

What has changed? What has evolved?

Is it our ideas? Lifestyles? Philosophies?

It seems that we have lost all love,

For country, fellow citizen, our original thirteen colonies.

America, the beauty, she offers every opportunity,

Success, change, and satisfaction all in the hands of her people.

But, have we disrupted this ideology,

The American dream has experienced upheaval.

Immigrants are the foundation of America,

But have the new waves been trained?

Do they know where they are or where they stand,

Or just living their old lives in a new land?

Let us teach these new kindred how to be American,

This should not be a sin.

Enjoy the traditions of your culture in every way,

But remember you made the choice to move away.

America welcomes everyone with open arms,

As long as they are willing to accept her values.

Truth, liberty, freedom, knowledge, and respect,

Just as I have been raised, America wants good character to be kept.

To be American is an honor few can enjoy,

So become American, do not break away.

Learn the history of America and you shall see,

The dream and miracle of the country that came to be.
