And I Learned

You were my first everything.

My first friend,

My first prom,

My first date, I kicked your butt in bowling,

My first boyfriend.

Those four months with you,

You helped me to learn to love myself,

Even if you didn't know it.

That first kiss drove me crazy,

Butterflies and elephants.

After my best friends turned sixteen,

It was time to say "Goodbye" for now.

It was very hard.

I cried for two days straight.

But the fact we are still friends helps.

I still miss you, five months later.

All of the hugs and kisses and love,

But I pray you're doing well.

I've learned to forgive myself for letting you go.

And I learned that sometimes, I'm better on my own.
