AND THEN CAME THE BUZZ

Tue, 01/10/2017 - 22:27 -- Magc99

I would come home from school

and expect a silent mouth and loud ear.

that's what you do when someone is talking.

listen louder than you speak.

but that wasn't the case.

I would come home from school and be asked how my day was

and when I opened my mouth to let every

event from the past 8 hours spill out of my mouth

like a river into a sea.

but when the river would run dry and all i would seek was a reply

there was no sympathy, no joy, no disappointment.

little to no emotion at all.

and then came the faithful buzz.

another notification, another message,

another car ride in silence

only filled by the floating words.

this became routine after 2 years.

me talking , and in return only a buzz filling the reply.

I eventually stopped talking, and that's when I noticed the buzz the most.

because I would sit with an entire day resting on my shoulders

and all I wanted was to say out loud how

upset, happy, excited, and scared I was.

but the only thing I could find comfort and condolence in was a

buzz.
