Are they truly my rights? Or the government's power?...

It seems that each and everywhere I turn there is a right taken
Are they truly mine or is it true that my rights are truly forsaken?
Each and every one of us have a voice they say!
Yet somehow that strong voice is weak without all the voices that stray
Are these my rights or the government's power?
How should I know when they are the clippers and I'm a flower
Oh, I'm sorry did I say flower? I meant weed
Because of my rights and individuality and every single need
Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr and Thomas Jefferson would be shocked
To see how little this government truly cares for us
They go and buy missiles and things that increase our debt
Even though they call these rights they might as well stick us at the rear of a bus...
They find new ways to take our rights and increase their strength
But we as the people swear that our rights are ours and will spare no length
To keep what is ours
But they can't keep us down since they can't waste the hour
