Ashes

The small town she grew up in

became engulfed in flames

Memories burnt to ashes

Buried among forgotten names

She desperately wanted to run,

but a voice called her to stay

Light broke through the heavy clouds

revealing just who to blame

She spent her life burning bridges

and wasting away her days

And now with nowhere else to run

She had to live with her mistakes.
