Autumn Lion

It was by chance I stumbled
into the fierce lions terrain
and he looks like all the rest
with large claws, sharp teeth, and his mane

Instinct readied my legs to run
To fight, escape, this deadly trap
Scars unhealed from past encounters
Wounds I’m unready to unwrap

Still - magnificent soft brown eyes
Can lure in any of the lamb
Trusting such a dangerous creature
Surely falling to the beasts sham

Impossible one is diff'rent
but the lamb must begin to trust:
Innocent is this one lion,
Proven to be honest and just
This poem is about:
Me
