Because I Love You

Because I Love You

A dark circle under your eye,

Sorry, darling, you mustn't cry.

I had to,

Because I love you.

A broken glass, a shattered dish

You know I didn’t want a kiss

I had to,

Because I love you.

A long-sleeved shirt and long pants,

You must hide my angry rants.

I had to,

Because I love you.

"Because I love you" is in disguise,

When love creates anger, fear, and lies,

It’s not because I love you,

It’s because I own you.

Rosy cheeks and a smiling face,

To hold you in my warm embrace.

I want to,

Because I love you.

A happy place not far away,

I can take you there every day.

I want to,

Because I love you.

A reminder through a simple act,

I will always keep this loving pact.

I want to,

Because I love you.

Because I love you is truly honest,

When love is powerful, warm, and earnest.

Its because I love you,

Because I don’t want to be without you.
