Because I Love You, I Left You

The night was cold, the room was dark,

I thought it was me, but he was your spark.

You wanted him, I was in your way,

You wanted me to leave, you wanted him to stay.

I left you with that man, I left you in that space,

My heart broken, to keep your's in a happy place.

Love is not forcing someone to be who they are not,

Love is not selfish, leaving someone to rot.

Love is letting someone be exactly who they are,

Love is never going to desperately far.

Love is leaving someone when it is due,

And I left you, mom, because I love you.
