Because I Love You (A Poem for You, Lovely)

You’ve taught me

The world will always be beautiful

No matter who we’re standing next to

But as I’ve grown the realize

Because I love you

Everything glows

About as bright

As a hundred million constellations

Whenever you’re by my side

You are the sun

Warming every inch of my being

So I circle around you endlessly

I hope your gravity keeps pulling me towards you

Because I love you

I have learned that the word “love”

And all it’s beauty

Stretches miles

Pulling us together

We’re connected by heartstrings

Reaching from your heart to mine

Maybe I love you unhealthily

So much of my faith and trust lies in you

Even though you are fated to grow up soon

Grow away

Maybe I love too much

You shake your head

And tell me there’s no such thing

As too much love

You told me you can always rely on those you love

So you’ll be with me always

Dear you, I’ve recently discovered

I love you like a brother, and I never want to let you go

You showed me that everything has an end

We won’t get infinity

But you told me to never love less

Just out of fear it’ll come to a close too soon

So no matter where you land in this world

I’ll love you an infinity and more

In the space of our lovely little finity.

Because I love you

I know this isn’t the end

As you watched the tears roll down my face

You showed me where you’ll always be

You pointed to my heart, held me close

You’ll love me and you’ll never let me go
