Being Me

Why am I scared of being me

You'll never know what it's like to be

Someone that only

Sees hatred and bigotry

Towards a person like me

A person of my sexuality

Murdered on the street

Beautiful hearts that stop to beat

Brothers, sisters, and many others

Taken from fathers and mothers

Told they're never enough

Silenced because of their love

We can marry now that's great

Unless our president has nothing but hate

In his heart for those made different

"This isn't how marriage is meant

To be

In my country!"

Who cares

Which people are in which pairs

It makes no difference to you

What other people do

Live your own life

Don't cause strife

And others will do the same to you
