Bibliophile

I end the journey of reading this book

the lines printed on the aged paper

“Whatever we had missed, we possessed

together the precious, the incommunicable past.”

I fall back on my bed with a feeling of satisfaction

breathing deeply, holding the book to my chest

Close to my heart with my arms crossed as if

I wished I could absorb this book into my being

In which I could feel the prickling of every word

flowing through my veins, making it’s way to the heart

Where they could be etched there in gold

For the remainder of my lifetime, where I could refer to it

Like a tattoo on the skin in a place only where I know

And if my soul were ever to thirst for the inspiration

That every soul needs every now and then

It need only trace the words etched in gold

To understand the nostalgic feeling once more
