Than I will smile even when I cry
To let the world know
I refuse to wear my hardships as a burden
But rejoice in it
For it has given me enough back bone to keep pushing
Even when I'm being pushed against

Reminds me of Lucille Clifton! I like that the speaker has built strength out of hardship. Gives the speaker good character.
