Chocolate in the Dirt

When I feel like I am six feet underground

I look up at the sun and say,

This too shall pass.

Then I feel dirt as it hits my feet, legs, stomach, shoulders, arms and face.

So I lie there.

I cry and cry until my eye are red.

There is a dim light when I look up and I cry my last cry,

Then I begin to dig myself out.

I find a chocolate in the dirt.

I eat it.

I see the gorgeous smile of the girl I made.

I feel the warm arms of the wonderful human who helps me up,

I see all the goodness I'm surrounded by,

I see the humor.

And as I continue to dig,

I say again,

This too shall pass.

So I shove that shit right in the ass.

Before I can look back, the sun is once again hitting my face.
