The Clay

With every year that passes

I realize I stand out among the masses

I am different, undeniably unique

Just ask my Creator,

He’ll tell you what he thinks

As his clay, I am molded and shaped over time

I am a masterpiece of the Divine

This is how my Creator molded me in a year

Keep reading my dear

He told me he needed me to be stronger,

to hold my own and stand up for myself longer

With every obstacle and inevitable adversity,

I am victorious through his mercy

His unfailing grace is the reason behind the smile on my face

Although I am not a complete masterpiece,

I have learned to love myself despite my flaws.

After all, beauty is not skin deep, and the essence of beauty has no laws.

My definition of beauty comes from my maker

“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”

I have his favor.

As every great masterpiece does, I have a sound foundation.

I praise the God who makes all of the earth's creation.

While this is concise, I hope I am clear that as the clay I have been molded and shaped in a year.

I am ready for the next phase.

I will become polished and glazed.

Poised to perfection, I continue to follow in my Creator's direction.

Although I am unsure where this new year will start,

I am thankful that my Creator has a pure, humble heart.
