Hurting eyes
They all saw it as they walked on by
On the ground, ready to cry
But in their hearts, they were ready to rise
Different skin
Same hearts, just within
Hearts didn’t matter, not back then
Now that skin reminds them where they’ve been
Bus seats
Simple words, greatest feats
A seat to guard them from the streets
Now no seat can mark the elite
Unified nation
Describing the fight against segregation
When skin should not dignify ones damnation
Nations to no longer represent separation
