The Conductor
"Pull up the caboose," hiss'd Moses, moonlit
And fierce, the bandana like a red flag,
Signal of something si lent ly -"Don't drag!"-
Simmering in the blue night. Moses flit
Among the soot. White apron soon unfit
For the white tables in the blue house, snag
Full of red eyes and catching gaze. A rag
On the soot skin stanch, brown eyed bunch- "Piglet,
You're agonna be a deadman agan-"
Throbbing, tunnel vision, a whistle cry
Asound sleep in the brain chugged and ran
Fire raked, spiked like a thistle
Down the backward moving line. A woman
Reaching the light at the end of the tunn'l.
