I gasp for breath
I couldn’t believe it was her. Amelia Boynton Robison accepting an award for ultimate braveness in Selma, Alabama
She was and still is my idol
She taught me to always love any race
Power to the people and especially power to GOD
Was her motto
Bloody Sunday was the highlight of it all
Thousands marched singing this little light of mine I’m going let it shine
They had hope
And most of all pride
After all that’s happened over the years, racism, killing , families being taken away from one another you would think this would end; it hasn’t
Amelia said we are the human race; whether you are black, white, and yellow or red we are ONE
Power to the People and especially power to GOD
Seeing her face light up accepting that award brought warmth to my heart
Looking into her eyes I saw the hurt and pain she went through
Marching across that bridge in Montgomery was the triumph
This little light of mine I’m going to let it shine
Power to the People and especially power to GOD

Writing this poem came from the heart but also made me make changes in my life to where i see things different but also let me know that our civil rights activist didn't fight for nothing they fought to make a change which made it a legacy

You are in the right zone, great poems certainly come the heart! I also learned something, I never heard of this woman before so for that I thank you. I suggest you might want use some more power words or even to try rhyming or keeping a rhythm , I know you have something great to say, I just want to see and feel your voice sing!
