I pray …
that one day
when my daughter opens up her first crayola box,
that she doesn't shy away from the color brown like I did.

I pray that she finds the beauty in the color Black rather
than seeing the hardship of it color, of its tone . I want her to her
to feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that there is a perfect dark brown
in Her crayola box , that she can use to color in her Mirror-like stick figures with.

Let her use these browns and blacks to color in her
drawings of Dr.King or Mrs.Parks
God, let her know its because of them and many more
of her people, that today SHE is able to look to her left and see
that she is sitting next to a young Caucasian girl and to her
right an Asian boy and feel no type of discrimination or inferiority.

I want her to love every color but,
Love hers even more.
Appreciate hers even more.
Know the significance of her color Even More.

Heavenly Father, let her know there are footprints that are
engraved in history , footprints of numerous colors that has made a permanent
stamp in the history books.
Let her know, that the color of hatred and discrimination though not
fully deceased are surely not apart of my baby's Crayola Box

Amen.
