Dear Courtney

Dear Courtney

By: Tyler McBride

i will not cry when i die.

i couldn’t when you did,

when you decided to fly,

your feet off the ground as you hid,

in your room from whomever,

Forever.

your sister cried, your mother cried.

am i broken?

because i didn’t cry when you died,

your pain went unspoken,

suffering on your own.

Alone.

we had so much in common.

neither of us believed in a lord,

but you didn’t get your amen,

never getting your resolving chord,

your brain a cell of violence.

Silence.
