Dear Future Me,

Future me, do you remember?

Can you think way back?

Back when a hot wheels car was your most precious possession,

When your life's purpose was to outwit your babysitter?

Present me, do you see?

Do you see how easy you had it?

How you were paid for making all A’s and no B’s.

How your parents supplied your every need?

Future me, do you look back?

Back to the seventeen year old present me.

Do you laugh at how concerned I was,

To ensure that of money for college I would have no lack?

Present me I think you understand,

That you have it easy compared to the future you.

That you pay no bills and are,

Not even yet legally a man.

Future me how are you?

Am I taking my youth for granted?

Did you accomplish everything you wanted?

Will I be satisfied and content when my life is through?

Present me, are you enjoying life free?

Reading books, playing ball, watching netflix

My safe haven is on both sides of my door.

Good in people and the world is all I want to see.

Future me, do you think?

Do you wonder if the future you, will reflect

About how you once reminisced on how,

The easy days passed by within an eyes wink.

Present me, do you recognize your health?

You can walk unaided, you have all of your mental faculties, and a purpose in life yet unfulfilled.

Also, know that you will continue until that goal is reached,

That chapter closed, and the book placed back on the shelf.

Future me, I thought stress was deadlines and  tests,

You now see that today’s stress was less than yesterday's.

Your stress is making sure our offspring become their best,

Gazing upon them we see the present me.
