Dear You,

Dear You,

Yes, you, the one sitting there
With tears on your cheeks
And fear in your weeks.

To the one who’s worries
Overshadows the prize
And scars up their thighs

To the girls and the boys
And those in between
To the ones who are neither, who remain unseen.

To the kids who like the same
Like both, all, or none
To the ones who date many, or one

The people who experience the worst
Whose smiles hide pain
That eat away at heart in disdain

You are great, wonderous, grand
Your destiny is yours, take a stand

You’ll rise and fall and get hurt
You’ll feel the anger, sadness, glee
You’ll feel the desire to flee

But I promise that you’ll be okay
Whether you’re straight, pan, poly, or gay

Your life is yours and you can live it
You’re more than a number, more than a digit.

Just remember in your heart
Remember in your soul
Your pain is a fire, burned from coal

Let that fire burn bright
Let yourself push forward
Let yourself exist
And always Remember

You’re Special
You’re you
You’re wonderful
And it’s true

When your nights are hard
Just keep this too
Because you’re good, and I love you

Sincerely,
Someone who’s been there too.
