I look at you
I look at me
There is no difference
In what I see.
We are both people
We are both alive
We were both born
In 1945.
But I am black
And you are white
But why must I
Fight for my rights?
What is so different
between me and you
what do I have to be me
And you have to be you?
Why can't it be us
Together, as one
Both united under the same sun.
Equality should be given
not something you earn
which is something
I have learned.
I look at you
I look at me
The only difference is
That you are free.
