There was a little black boy, with skin as dark as can be.
He knew his skin was different, as you can truly see.
The world looked at him and stuck their nose up towards the sky so blue,
"Your different", they'd snarl, "That makes us better than you."
And the little boy believed it.

There was a little black boy who was hurt.
On the street, The white kids would throw dirt.
"You're nothing", they yelled as they pushed him around.
Then they would leave him, crying with his face to the ground.
And the little boy believed he was nothing.

There was a little black boy who ran home to his mom,
telling her how his day had gone so wrong.
"I hate my skin", he gasped and cried.
His mother looked at him and sighed,
"Baby, you're different, but that's not bad.
The world is just ignorant, which is truly sad
we are all equal, skin color doesn't define that.
We are all beautiful, whether we're skinny or fat.
Don't let them tell you that you don't amount to much
hold your head high and don't believe those lies and such.
Don't give in
to their hateful sin.
Show them love and not hate,
things will get better, just you wait."
And the little boy believed her.

There was a little black boy who took a courageous stand,
against the world and those mean boys who threw dirt and sand
"I am different", he yelled at the top of his voice
"It is the way I am, I didn't have a choice,
you may say I am nothing compared to you
but to me that is not true.
I have potential and I can be so much more
than your punching bag, and the target of your hateful core.
I will overcome all this racism and hate.
Not with violence, but with a peaceful debate
Let us join hands, for we are all same.
So let this belief consume great fame."
And the little boy believed it.
