Elsa

Clothes of cardboard, Souls of stone

Cracked faces with the tears it once shone

Walking in the darkness

Fear is pale

Being thrown back like an animal to a place I don’t remember

The cries for my babies – without a father, without a mother

Across a border so ruthlessly thrown

Never to forget I am being betrayed by a country that fights for Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness

Something stolen from you just like your dignity

Clothes of cardboard, Souls of stone

The county I pledged to hurts me so.
