Emotions and an Insult

Tue, 08/02/2016 - 21:55 -- Elynn99

I take your insults and I swallow my tears

I will not show weakness in front of you

I refuse to show that you affect the way I feel about myself

But image is everything

Me, we, you, us, society, we will never turn a blind eye to appearance

You may bite your tongue and judge me silently but this will not change how I look

But it has

Your voice has the power to break my wall

My wall that defined me and all that I am

Are you proud? You produced a damaged broken girl. Good job.

But I will stand up

I will pick up the broken pieces of my mirror

And I will redefine myself

Not to please you or anyone but to please myself

But improvement comes in time

Just like your personality and thoughts about others

Maybe it will get better with age
