Fireflies

Like little specs of happiness

Fluttering around at night,

I've never thought of them as pests,

Their light gives me hope and might.

Their bioluminescence

And their all around magic

Gives the summer air such essence

Where nothing is ever tragic,

As I stare outward at you

I stare inward at me.

Yes, when it's just us two

I'm filled with such glee.

Oh you certainly are the epitome

Of summer and the ultimate

Sign that freedom has been given to me

With your bottoms all lit.

Let's take a journey

Through the speckled night,

Speckled with summer

And the beautiful lamp light.

It'll be so wonderfull

To observe these tiny gifts

Which make nothing dull

Andy my spirit one always lifts.

My ardent attraction to the small beings

Is no surprise to some who see

More than most are normally seeing

When without the essential key.
