Consumed

Although brown eyes are darker than blue eyes
I had never found such madness before
In those with more pigment than your own skies
It was not something that I could ignore

It was not only that which dragged me in
A voice like silk, how so soothing and fine
Much too heavenly to not be a sin
If only the mass it made were benign

Days are shorter and darker without you
I wonder sometimes if you feel the same
Dear god, I truly wish you only knew
How brightly you’ve set my poor heart aflame

As long as my heart pumps blood through my veins
Please know that to me, you’re all that remains.
