Flatline

When the hurricane has blown away and the earthquake finally stops,

When ground zero is just another thing you see

on your way to work or school or some other thing,

When the manager has hired some kid to write your order down When the shot has been fired and school is back again When the snow is gone but it still reads below ten When the rain and wind died long ago but the water still it falls.Though we've lost the lives we don't bother to look, because the only thing we might find is a book.  So the letters yellow on the page while we leave behind the tears. Then our lives go on and we hire someone new.The clouds are gone and the sky's too perfect blue. The Fire is burning out,but the thing you didn't see is the trembling at her knees Their hearts have all gone out,but the show is off the airand the nation doesn't care at all, because the flatline doesn't beat again when tomorrow is today.
