Forever Strong

Forever Strong
I hear that whisper, that snicker, that joke,
The heart inside me, you finally broke.
Although I never seemed annoyed,
The person that I was, you have now destroyed.

No matter how hard I tried to be your friend,
You changed my life, held me off to the bitter end.
For better or worse I still don’t know,
Now through the years, I’ve had a chance to grow.

Into a better person, from this day forward,
As the ship of life, sails further shoreward.
To a land of hope, and chances anew,
One of love and friendships true.

Today is the day I leave you behind,
A world so cruel, and so unkind.
But thanks to all the lessons I have learned,
Those frowns on my face have finally turned.

Into the smile that with God’s grace,
Would take me to a wonderful place.
A place where I finally could belong,
The girl you took for granted, is now forever strong.
