Freedom

A woman once asked me
What does it mean to be free?
As I pondered this question, I though
Freedom is the ability to be me

Freedom is making my own decisions
And deciding how my life is dealt
Freedom is going through with my own missions
And causing the chains of oppression to melt

Freedom is voting on the things I see
Are important to you, our families, and me
Freedom is being able to break away
And choose my own destiny the next day

Freedom is knowing that only I
Can dictate whether I live or die
That is what it means to be free
Having the ability to be
Whatever I see fit to be
