Growing up, all I ever heard was how the "white man" would keep us down.
How all they ever wanted to do was see me frown.
How I was suppose to accept this as life truth
and never enjoy the fruits of my youth.

But I have a mama who said, "No child, not you.
You will not be silenced by this fabricated truth.
I bore you from my womb to be someone the world could listen to.
You're an American, just like them too except your freedom knows no silence."

At first I couldn't comprehend,
I said, "Mama, I must listen to the white man."
She began to hang her head in sorrow and I wondered what had I done wrong,
then I started to understand

The sense of white supremacy that has cultivated the land
shall no longer be a brand that I withstand.
Freedom does not discriminate, it favors no sex, race, or belief.
It sees us all as equal and it seeks for us to live in peace.

I aim to grow in world where there are no set borders.
Where stereotypes are no longer seen as a normality, but a fatality.
Where judgements are not made upon ignorance, but knowledge.
Where I can look to my left and my right and join hands no matter the color.

This nation was born on freedom
and through freedom it will stand.
Silence is weapon more lethal than any bomb.
My freedom is deaf to silence and therefore free to carry on.
