Glacier

              Glacier

On a hike through Glacier National park

                               I carved on a tree’s bark

The lake water was fresh and cold

The birds sang the stories they were told

The trees were of various shades of green

                             Sunglasses would be so keen

The glaciers were a beautiful sight

Rays from the sun were so bright

Despite the people, a Mountain Jay perched

                                 For its prey it searched

On a path I sidestepped some scat

A hissing sound came I thought I heard a cat

Fresh glacier water ran into a lake

Oh! Look, I see a snake

I took off my socks and shoes

For if I did not cross, I would loose

                               I waded through the water

For I am Mother Nature’s daughter

My family and I sat on a log talking and laughing

I waded back through the water, it wasn’t as shocking

As I hike away a frown forms on my face

For I do not want to leave this place

Oh what a sight your face will be

When you hear my memory of Glacier and me
