In the Heat of The Night

Location

Sirens and energency lights

Break the darkness of the evening.

Police cars and ambulances come into sight.

A distraught woman stands, not believing ehat she's seeing.

Her child's body is morbidly bleeding.

Paramedics dart and crowd into the room

To find the child frantically screaming.

The woman's voice is filled with gloom

While she tries to explain that it happened to soon.

She swallows and says, "I don't know how he found the gun!"

"My husband keeps it in the office room."

Under her breath, she mumblesm" He's my only son"

She looked at the stretcher, on which her son's body was boeing toted

She chokes up and tells the officer," I had no idea it was loaded."
