The House on the Corner

The house on the corner,
Holds a family of four
Plus one, I suppose
If you were to count the dog

The house is not big,
Or extravagant
But it is certainly
Home

Cozy, and warm
It lies behind a farm
Where the corn grows strong
During Summer

And where the sun rises
Every morning
Above the house
On the corner

The daughter of the family,
Knows no other home
It’s where she was raised
Where her true roots grow

Small town living
They know no other way
It may seem like nothing to you,
But to them it is a castle of dreams

Where bonds have been sewn
And love has flourished
To them, there is no place on earth,
Like the house on the corner
