How We Love

Because I love you, I always feel safe.

From the warmth of your hugs to the softness of your touch, I am calm.

In fact, because I love you, our whole house is calm.

Our fights do not last long into the night, with screaming matches and thrown dishes.

But end, with honest balanced conversation.

Because I love you, I keep my cool, tame my ego; and sometimes my jealousy.

And because you love me, you offer me that same respect.

Because I love you, you don't have to be afraid to talk to your female coworker.

But because you love me, you keep it cordial.

Because I love You and You love me, if we feel angry or neglected,

We don't take it out on each other.

Never forcing you or me, to push away friends and family.

Because we love each other, we compromise.

Our love is not hard or heartbreaking.

It takes work and balance, never struggle.

Heart and determination, not misery and endurance.

Because I love you and You love me, we know we are works in progress.

We check our egos, and check our tempers.

We keep moving forward, and we keep growing.

Together.
