Humans are...

Sun, 03/31/2013 - 16:32 -- tsmock

Everyone equal,
no one oppressed,
yet the world yelled

For the world
did not believe that
skin color mattered

African-American,
Can we just be Americans?
Can we just be Humans?

Must we discriminate,
Must we see differences
only skin deep?

Must we discriminate,
Must we discriminate against ourselves?
Must we discriminate against others?

May we only see humans or Americans,
but not African-Americans
or Hispanic-Americans.

Are we humans?
Or are we aliens?
Are we one species,
or are we incompatible?
