I’VE GROWN like a non-blooming flower

I’VE GROWN like a non-blooming flower

Feeling the pressure of money I now work

Giving me confidence to talk to people with power

            In my voice

Got into college

Giving me a daily pre-life crisis

Because this year has been plagued with many questions

What will I study?

Where will I go?

Am I valuable enough for this or that institution?

Most shocking, like a revolution

I don’t care what my peers think because what they think is pointless

What matters is what I think of myself, I don’t need to caress

Their egos by trying to impress

I became a vegan

Making me compassionate

for animals, fellow humans, the environment

I voted for the first time, many ask

            I nominate….

None of your business

I’ve grown like a non-blooming flower because I like whom I am

 I will always be changing
