I am gray
I am niether black
nor white
I don't keep track of
who did what to who
Jesus taught me the
golden rule:
Do onto others as you would have them
do onto you.
I never understood all the hate
What was the big debate?
Did we even have to segregate?
All I know is that one tiresome march across the country, and
one compelling speech changed it all
I was not there, but still, it changed me
I will never have to worry about
sitting in the wrong spot on the bus
or drinking from the wrong water fountain
or sitting at the wrong counter.
And its all because an
older generation cared enough
to start the the Civil Rights Movement
