At the beginning of last year,

I was only fifteen.

At the beginning of last year,

I was spending most of my time in the hospital.

At the beginning of last year,

I was still having seizures.

At the beginning of last year,

I thought I would never dance again.

At the beginning.

Today,

I am sixteen.

Today,

I never visit the hospital.

Today,

My last seizure was on June 3rd.

Today,

I dance as often as possible.

My time is now.

And yet, life complicates things...

I have lost my best friend,

And my church no longer feels like home,

I spend my time searching for scholarships,

Doing test prep,

And looking at prospective colleges,

Instead of being with my family.

At the beginning of last year,

I felt young... Too young.

Today,

I feel tired... Too tired.

Tomorrow,

I will go on.
