Idle Words

I want to see the world at large
Where right people are always in charge
A world where I can marry and speak
Where racism, sexism, and ageism are all but obsolete
A world where people aren't defined by their pasts
But the world is so quick, things surely won't last
So now I tell you as a cautionary tale
Don't live your life as an object for sale
We tread and tread for a better tomorrow
But should never forget the people who follow
They marched and fought
And stuck to their thought
For the people that bled and who had theirs tears shed
Were their efforts and work all for dead?
Civil Rights are not the birds
And cannot become just idle words
Looking to see what lies in this new land
We walk towards the sun with only our fate in our hands.
