I'll Make the Darkness Light

If you say thought black was pure than your happiness was sin, life was based off the color of your skin. Born from royalty we were stolen, traded off and lost among the oceans. Shunned by world our race grew alone. We were kings and queens of the motherland that gave birth to untold civilizations. Knowing this knowledge is fundamental they put it in books because they know to us reading is not fun to mental. We are free but slaves in a different time. A stereotype killing us off one by one and the justice system is its partner in crime. The day of overcoming is worth the fight and that’s the day we made the darkness...Light.

While I might not entirely agree with the premises of this poem, I will certainly not deny the quality with which it was crafted.
