It Shapes Me

It shapes me.
The pain, the suffering.
The men and women who lost it all.
Who lost their identities,
Their passion.
Who after years of turmoil and pain
Were fed up with it all.
They fought through tears.
They fought through the blood.
The blood of their brethren.
The blood that later formed young ones like you and me.
Young ones who don't have to go through it.
Who don't have to go through the turmoil and pain.
Who can live in peace.
Who know that their futures were fought for.
They were fought for by our mothers,
Our fathers.
So yeah, their struggle was for something.
It was for me.
It shapes me.
