Once upon a time,

long before you were mine.

It was clear as day,

for morning was bright and gay.

Green grass sprouted from the ground,

the birds were sky bound.

The sun lay low in the sky,

then soared high.

You looked sharp,

the way you strummed that harp.

The waves pushed against the sand,

our once upon a time did not go as planned.

Not one bit,

but, you wouldn't quit.

Catching just a glimpse,

made me feel like a wimp.

People chuckled,

while my knees buckled.

Under the light of the moon,

in a warm night in June.

I saw you,

the I glanced at my shoe.

Never having the guts,

because I am a clutz.

I couldn’t get you out of my head,

the thoughts of you have never fled.

Even to this day,

I don't know what to say.

My great love,

Is all I write of.

Our almost love story,

in the promise of glory.

Was divine,

the way we should shine.

As I aged,

I was still caged.

One night in late June,

your figure was amongst the light of the moon.

Shouting out your name,

ready to make my claim.

You turn to me,

and you fall to your knee.

A ring glimmered in the light,

you were my knight.

Accepting the proposal,

hand in hand we walked to the old rose hill.

Long years ahead,

amongst bloodshed.

We were blissful

not everything was wistful.

In the middle of misrule,

we sold the jewel.

No food for weeks,

but we still smiled with our hallow cheeks.

Protruding ribs,

and empty cribs.

The baby wailed,

the it's system failed.

We always looked on the bright side,

with our scared eyes.

We were damaged,

yet we had managed.

Into our old age,

the war had quit its rage.

Together we trekked,

through the wreck.

Once upon a time,

all through the climb.

It had always been you,

even when as we grew.

I knew it was always true,

it will always be you.

Until the bitter end,

I will always love you my friend.
