Know Your Rights
There are many just like me,
Who compose our thoughts to set us free.
We know our rights.
“I love her”, Jen says through her pen,
Not silencing herself for men.
She knows her rights.
And Sam will not take lesser work,
Because he’s too dark to be a clerk.
He knows his rights.
I will stand before a judge,
To defend against a policeman with a grudge.
I know my rights.
Let your consciousness resound,
Where censorship has previously bound.
You know your rights.
