Knowing My Heart

You suffocate me

Because you love me?

You consume yourself with me and expect me to do the same

Because you love me?

You talk over me, you fill up the silence

Because you love me?

Because I love you,

I believe in you.

Because I love you,

I care about you.

Because I love you,

I hope you're safe.

You think our love is equal

But we have always been on two different planes.

You think everything is perfect,

But I feel the truth.

You hold me, but not the way I want to be held.

You hold me too close to your chest,

where I can't move, I can't breathe.

I need to breathe, I need to move, I need to dance on my own!

But you keep pulling me back.

Because you love me?

I make myself free, and you grab at me,

But I'm not going back.

I can't,

I'm sorry.

Your grip was too tight.

But I still believe in you,

Because I love you.

I still care about you,

Because I love you.

I still hope you're safe,

Because I love you.

You don't understand it.

That's okay, I don't expect you to.

You don't understand that love comes in many different forms.

This is the form I can give you,

Nothing more.

I shouldn't feel sorry for knowing my heart.

But I am.

Because I love you.
