Letter to civil activist

Through day and night you fought for our rights
with every battle and every war you came closer then
Ever before. And even though the war is done
we haven’t won the ultimate battle: to go through
life as black or white and to be treated all the same.
And though you are gone your memories live on and we appreciate
the strides you made in your lives. But do not fret for we will succeed yet.
From Chisholm, King, Parks, Baker, Rustin, and all of you. I just want to say thank you!
