Living Melanin

I was raised to be proud, confident, to embrace full.

To ignore the mugs of the brighter skin, Living Melanin.

To wear my curly fro & deny any hands to touch for it was my crown.

Mama said, They can not bring you down.

Living Melanin.

I wish to live in peace, love, & happiness.

But my skin upsets you ?! How you act ?! How you see me as a human ?!

There is power in every step I take, Living Melanin.

& We will be on this earth forevaaaah.

So get used to this, Living Melanin.
